If you’re like most moms, you probably feel like you’re always cleaning something. It seems like there’s never enough time to get everything done. But did you know that by creating a monthly cleaning schedule, you can make sure that all the important tasks are taken care of without having to spend hours on end scrubbing and dusting? In this blog post, we’ll outline what chores need to be done each month in order to keep your home clean and organized.

Monthly Cleaning Schedule:

Each month, there are specific household chores and cleaning that I have found to be important to do both to keep the house clean and the family healthy. You may choose to do these chores more often than once a month, which is perfectly fine. Also, depending on what type of furniture, floors, etc. you have in your home, some of these tasks may not apply to you, so in those cases just ignore!

Here are the monthly cleaning tasks you’ll need to do:

  • Vacuum and wash all carpets and rugs
  • Wash all bedding, including sheets and pillowcases
  • Wash throw blankets that you keep on couches or chairs
  • Clean couches and chairs, including vacuuming and spot-cleaning
  • Wipe down all walls, doors, and door frames
  • Dust all surfaces, including
  • Wipe down kitchen cabinets
  • Dust fan blades
  • Clean inside and outside of trash bins with antibacterial wipes
  • Clean the dishwasher
  • Hand wash or clean your coffee pot in your dishwasher
  • Change out sponges
  • Wipe down baseboards
  • Deep clean grout
  • Dust light fixtures
  • Sanitize remotes with antibacterial wipes
  • Clean the stovetop and oven

Based on your schedule and availability, you can either split these tasks into a few items each week to be completed or have one or two longer days each month specifically for cleaning. It may seem like a long list of items but some of them may only take a few minutes, such as washing the coffee pot or adding an extra load or two of laundry to that week.

Monthly cleaning may seem daunting, but by breaking it into smaller tasks and chunks of time, you’ll be surprised at how quickly it can get done! Plus, you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that your home is clean and organized.

There are plenty of cleaning tools and accessories that can also help you complete these tasks and do so faster. The below list includes my favorite cleaning supplies that help me get more done and spend less time cleaning.

Cleaning Supplies That You Need To Have

  1. Cleaning Caddy – I always use a cleaning caddy to hold all of my cleaners, dusters and rags. This way I can move easily from one room to the next and always have the items I need.
  2. Handheld vacuum – having a small handheld vacuum makes sweeping up messes or cleaning off the couches easier than hauling the large sweeper around the house.
  3. Swiffer Wet Jet – mopping is so much faster with this. The liquid is ready to use and clean up is super easy by just ripping off the one time use pad and throwing it away.
  4. Toilet Cleaning Stamps are a great way to keep your toilets cleaner for longer, saving you time each week. Just stick one on the side of the bowl and it cleans every time it flushes.
  5. Swiffer dusters (and with an extending handle) are great for dusting electronics, fans, bookshelves, light fixtures and more. Each duster holds a lot of dust and allergens so they don’t need to be replaced very often.
