How to easily and quickly clean your mattress:

1. Remove all bedding and vacuum the mattress

You can either use a hand vacuum or the hose attachment on a normal floor vacuum to pick up an dirt or debris. You may want to vacuum the pillows as well.

Even though you don’t have to, I highly suggest washing your bedding at this time. Just so you are putting clean sheets on a clean mattress.

2. Spot clean any areas that are stained or dirty

You can either use a bottle fabric spray cleaner and scrub with a brush or for the best clean, use a portable spot clean carpet cleaner like this one.

3. Sprinkle baking soda over the entire surface of the mattress and let it sit for 30 minutes

Yup, baking soda… like for the kitchen. It is a natural deodorizer so it will remove the odors and is completely safe for fabrics.

You can choose how much baking soda you use for this, maybe half a box or a full box. Whichever you prefer.

If you aren’t sure, try a smaller amount and you can always sprinkle more later and repeat steps 3-5.

4. Vacuum up the baking soda

After the baking soda sits for at least 30 minutes, use the vacuum again to suck up all of the baking soda.

5. Air out the mattress by leaving the windows open for a few hours

The mattress may have some damp spots from the spot cleaning so make sure it is all dry before putting the sheets and bedding back on.
